WebThe IRS does not shut down e-file until the end of Oct for the tax year. It is open now. If you want to e-file your amendment (so glad the IRS started allowing this last year) you can only e-file if it is linked to your original e-filed tax return. If you go to a service you did not file originally you will have to mail it. WebThe IRS Modernized e-File (MeF) and TaxSlayer Pro support year round electronic filing (e-file) for the current tax year and the two previous years except during the IRS annual scheduled maintenance outage which generally begins in late November and lasts until January. During this time tax returns cannot be electronically filed for any tax year.
