WebThe Monach Islands are located just to the west of North Uist. This group of islands is also known as Heisker, and it was said that they were once connected to North Uist. Legend states that a storm of great proportions swept the connecting sandbank back into the ocean, thereby leaving the small islands to the mercy of the great Atlantic Ocean. WebThe four main islands are: Canna, Rùm, Eigg and Muck. The largest is Rùm, with an area of 104.6 square kilometres (40.4 sq mi).
